Chubu International Airport, Centrair

Domestics and International airports

Chubu International Airport (commonly called "Centrair") built on a manmade island in Ise Bay opened in 2005 near Nagoya, a region with the third largest population nationwide after Tokyo and Kansai. In the airport terminal, there are halls where various events can be held and a dining kitchen where weddings can also take place. Because Centrair has a sister airport relationship with Munich International Airport, freshly brewed beer sent by air from Germany can be savored during the summer. At the airport's bathhouse, jacuzzi and sauna can be enjoyed and you can also relax on the coin-operated massage chairs found in the Relaxation Plaza. Additionally, a guided Centrair tour that takes you around the airport is also available. In Sky Town where many stores are located, you will find "Chochin Yokocho" presenting an atmosphere of Japan 50 years ago and the European-style "Renga Dori". As for the shops and restaurants, many of the food establishments serve Japanese fish dishes while Nagoya's specialties such as "Miso Katsu (cutlet with miso sauce)" and "Ten-musu (tempura rice ball)" can also be enjoyed. Additionally, passengers can enjoy shopping at the various souvenir shops (highest number nationwide) after going through the embarkation procedures. The sky deck is only 300 meters away from the runway. From here, you can see the frequent arrivals and departures of airplanes while a beautiful nightscape of the airport can be enjoyed at nighttime. From Nagoya to Centrair, it takes approximately 40 minutes by taking the limited express train from Kanayama Station on the Meitetsu Line. As for express buses, there are routes running from the major cities of Aichi Prefecture as well as the prefectures of Nagano, Shizuoka, and Mie. There is also a boat that takes passengers to Centrair from the three major cities in Mie Prefecture that lies on the other side of the Ise Bay.
