ANA to Continue International Passenger Fuel Surcharge
ANA on October 16, 2009 applied to the Ministry of Land Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to continue its fuel surcharge on international flights after December 1, 2009.
From October this year, we have fixed the period of surcharge to two months, in order to allow a more flexible response to market changes. At the end of the two month period, it will be revised on the basis of the average market price of Singapore kerosene for the two months previous to the month of application for revision. Jet fuel kept an average of US$76.9 per barrel for August and September this year, accordingly the following surcharge levels will be continued:
| Fuel Surcharge Levels (per person per single sector) | |
|---|---|
| Routing: Japan to | Surcharge after December 1, 2009 (yen) |
| Europe, N.america (excl Hawaii), Middle East | 7,000yen |
| Hawaii, India | 4,000yen |
| Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia | 3,000yen |
| Vietnam, Saipan | 2,000yen |
| Hong Kong, Taiwan, China | 1,500yen |
| Korea | 300yen |
Conditions for Revision (and Removal) of the Surcharge
(1) The fuel surcharge will apply for the two months from December 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010 regardless of movements in the kerosene market. The levels stated are subject to government approval.
(2) The next revision of the fuel surcharge will be announced, if there is change in accordance with the chart below, and will apply to tickets issued on or after February 1, 2010, based on the average cost of Singapore kerosene for October and November. Should this fall below US$60 per barrel, the fuel surcharge will be removed altogether. Notes (1) The fuel surcharge applies in its entirety to all fares, including discount fares, child fares and award tickets. It is not subject to any discount whatsoever. Children under the age of two who do not occupy a seat will not be subject to the surcharge.
(2) In the case of refunded tickets, the surcharge will be refunded in full and will not be subject to any handling charges.
