SNA_emergencylandingA low-cost carrier based in Miyazaki (Kyushu, Japan), Skynet Asia Airways B737-400 aircraft has landed safely at Haneda airport, Tokyo today after having trouble with its right landing gear. SNA flight 58, carrying a total of 133 passengers and crew, left Miyazaki for Haneda at 15:15pm on the same day. The incident occured when it was preparing for landing, the pilots realised that the green gear lights in the cockpit indicating that the gears in extended and lock position did not illuminate despite with its gear lever lowered.

The pilots later confirmed that the right landing gear apparently got stuck in the midway position. Emergency procedures were carried that included using a backup system that allows all landing gears to be manually released.
Finally, visual inspection through the main gear viewers was made confirming that it was fully extended, and preparation for an emergency landing was issued with fire safety vehicles standing by next to the runway.

The plane landed safely at Haneda airport Runway B around 16:25pm, more than an hour past its scheduled time of arrival, reported circulating over Chiba prefecture airspace, that it was very likely performing fuel jettison, dumping of fuel in the air prior to land, as a safety precaution to reduce its weight and a potential fire hazard with carrying too much fuel.

None of the 133 people aboard the plane were injured and there was no report damage to the plane.
